OT Hub
'Transforming challenges into triumphs'
What is the OT Hub?
Our OT focus hub has been established to develop appropriate strategies to assist with supporting children’s sensory needs within school and extending this to support parents and carers at home. The OT hub aims to develop skills to support children when accessing everyday life and enable positive involvement and experiences in the community.
Our focus this academic year is continuing to develop OT therapy within school to support children’s regulation and sensory needs. We are implementing practical strategies through careful resourcing and concentrating on building staff confidence through appropriate training opportunities.
Why is the OT Hub important for Lisburne School?
We ensure universal provision is accessible to all our children through individual or group OT sessions and relevant sensory programmes.
Some children require more targeted or specialist support and we work closely with our OT therapists to provide bespoke packages to meet their needs. Staff access training opportunities and work closely with our therapy team who provide a wealth of knowledge and experience around OT support.
We are fortunate to have a purpose built therapy suite in school where children can access specialist resources and equipment. Classes continually provide sensory circuits and programmes with clear strategies for OT throughout the school day. Staff ensure that OT therapy is embedded within the curriculum and this forms a key part of our ‘5 Principles of Learning’.
