Communication Hub

'Every child has a voice, we want to hear it!'

What is the Communication Hub?

The Communication Hub works to support the development of communication across Lisburne, through support with training and modelling for staff and families, resourcing, liaising with SALT therapists and working with our wider community to ensure all of our children have the support they need to share their voice.

Why is the Communication important at Lisburne School?

At Lisburne, we firmly believe that Communication is the fundamental building block upon which all children's learning and essential life skills are built. It is not just about speaking; it is the ability to express needs, share ideas, understand others, and build relationships in what ever manner best suits to the individual.

Developing pupil voice, whether verbal, non-verbal, or through Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC)—enables children to access the curriculum, participate fully in classroom activities, and engage in collaborative problem-solving. Effective communication is also crucial for social-emotional development, helping children to articulate their feelings, navigate conflicts, and form the deep, meaningful connections necessary for a sense of belonging and well-being throughout their lives.
