Forest School has been up and running for six years now and is a very established part of the curriculum at Lisburne School. We dress appropriately and go out in all weathers.
Forest School offers children opportunities to learn in an ever-changing environment, looking at colours, temperatures, textures, sound and wildlife and how they change daily, which creates a wonderful sensory and stimulating learning experience.
The children are given time, space and freedom to explore and gain practical, hands on experience. Forest School is child led and play based. It aims to promote the holistic development of all children by fostering resilience, confidence, independence and creativity. We explore literacy, numeracy and science and link closely with any topics the children are studying in class. In addition, we build lots of dens, hunt mini-beasts, climb trees, roll down hills, sing and cook around our campfire. If you would like to find out more or even come and join in a session, please speak to your child’s class teacher.
In 2018 every Teacher at Lisburne received a copy of Messy Maths. A Playful, Outdoor Approach for Early Years
