Dear parents and carers,

We would like to thank everyone for all your support and patience during the last few months. We hope that you have enjoyed all the work and information sent from our teachers through online learning activities and weekly posts. We would like to extend our sincere thanks for the kind messages we have received, it has been a very difficult and unprecedented time for us all. We hope that you have managed to look at our virtual tour of school; we hope this will help and support the children in their transition process and return to school.

We are really looking forward to seeing everyone returning back to school in September and want to inform you of a few changes outlined within the Government guidelines;

Letter to New Parents – Stockport School Nursing Service

Welcome to the Stockport School Nursing Service. Our team includes Specialist Community Public Health Nurses, School Staff Nurses and School Nurse Assistants. The team are experienced in offering support, advice, and information to families of school aged children and young people from school entry to 16 years, in all aspects of general health. We also offer signposting and referral to other specialist services.

Due to COVID19 and current restrictions in place we have been unable to meet you at the new intake meeting in school to introduce the service, and discuss any worries you may have regarding your child`s health and well being. However, you can contact us by phone or email to discuss any concerns or worries you have and we can offer support via either a virtual contact or telephone call.

Supporting Children with Learning Disability/ASD Coping with COVID-19 Isolation

The next few weeks (and possibly months) will be a particularly
difficult time for children and families, whilst schools are closed
and we are advised to self-isolate or socially distance ourselves
from our friends and family. Our normal structure and routine
will be out of the window. This information pack aims to support
parents of children with an ASD or LD during this tricky time and
will hopefully make things a little more manageable.

This Booklet was put together by colleagues in Community Family
Psychology, Neurodevelopmental Team and Children’s Occupational
Therapy (20th March 2020). Please click here to view.
