Birches School Visit Lisburne (Friday 7th July)

Last Friday (7th July) our signing choir friends from Birches School (West Didsbury) came to Lisburne to perform three songs in our Hall. We also performed a number of tracks for them – including some music which will be used during our Summer Show taking place on Thursday 20th July. We were very impressed by their talents and dedication to signing songs and we thank them for making the journey to Lisburne.

Changes to Class Names this Autumn 2017.

In September we will be changing the way that we organise our classes and we wanted to let you know the organisation involved to place the children and meet their specific needs. Classes will be much smaller next year, with groups having between 7-10 children with high levels of staffing (generally 4 or 5 staff).  We are moving from 7 to 11 classes, these will be in age related groups but classes are also linked together with similar levels and we have looked closely at social interaction, friendship groups and around their therapy needs. Our School Council has chosen new names for the classes and they have chosen different tree types.

Lisburne School annual Summer Fair is taking place this Saturday 24th June 2-4pm. Admission is £1 per adult and children are free to enter. A variety of stalls are available for your entertainment including raffles, tombolas, bouncy castles, splat the staff, barbecue and refreshments plus many more. ALL proceeds will go directly to the Friends of Lisburne Charity as we continue our fundraising efforts to purchase a new minibus for the school. So please, spread the word and bring all the change you can, we look forward to seeing many of you this coming Saturday.

Science Week 2017

This week is Science Week at Lisburne School. Our focus will be on ‘change’ across the school.
Some of us will be looking at lifecycles in nature (caterpillars and butterflies, tadpoles and frogs) and others looking at the impact of temperature on materials (water, ice and steam). A few classes are exploring investigating the differences between fast and slow. We will also be looking at the changes that happen within ourselves as we grow. Science week will be a fun, educational week, full of discovery, exploration and learning for all.
