Spring 2020

We Are In This Together Banner

Hello all, we would like to share the below image with you.

It was made in school over the Easter period by the children in school because their parents are Covid 19 Key workers in addition to some of our more vulnerable children who receive support from the social care team.

Thank you for your continued support during this unprecedented period.

Easter Information Letter

Dear Parents and Carers, Lisburne School will remain open, with a skeleton staff, to support the parents/ carers who are Covid-19 key workers during the Easter holiday. The government has asked parents to keep their children at home, wherever possible, and asked schools to remain open only for those children who absolutely need to attend. After the Easter break we will continue to support all our parents and carers who are Covid-19 critical key workers.

SMBC: A message to parents/carers of children across Stockport, from early years, children’s and education service leaders.

The following is a letter from Stockport Metropolitan Borough Council:

First of all, we want to thank you, our community, for your support in these unprecedented
times.
We are conscious that you may be very anxious, as are our staff (many of whom are also parents/carers) about the current situation.
We want to reassure you that our headteachers and leaders from across all age ranges and types of early years settings, schools and colleges are working together with the professional associations, the local authority and our health partners to provide the best service that we can for your children…

‘Go Wild!’ Creative Reading Week 2020

In Spring term we held our Creative Reading Week, the theme was ‘Go Wild!’ Each class was challenged to choose a new and exciting fiction book about wild animals.  We used drama, art and creative strategies to engage and immerse the children in their learning, turning our classrooms into fantasy worlds for the children to explore!

The classes were challenged to make a 3D model of one of the characters from their story to be entered into a special competition during the Friday Celebration Assembly, 3rd prize went to Hazel Class, 2nd was Pine Class and the winner was Maple Class with their amazing multi-coloured parrot.  The assembly was also a wonderful opportunity for parents and carers to come into school and see the activities the classes have been upto during their wonderful week. Also, as part of our week, we celebrated World Book Day. To compliment our ‘Go Wild!’ theme we held a whole school read where every class shared ‘The Jungle Book’.  Each class differentiated the story, with sensory props, dressing up and music

Parents Information Evening

On Wednesday 26th February we held our first ‘Parents Information Evening’ for Reading and Measure.  The evening was an opportunity for parents to learn about some of the different activities we use within school to support the teaching of reading and measure and to gain experience of how these activities can be adapted to support the children at home.  Teachers and FLC’s were available throughout the evening to chat with parents and resources were provided to take home.

You can listen to some parental feedback on the evening on our Parents Say Page by clicking here

Welcome to Spring Term 2020

Welcome back and Happy New Year! The staff and I would like to thank you for all of the Christmas cards, gifts and kind wishes. We are very pleased to see everyone return safely to school after the Christmas break and I hope that you have had a good start to 2020. The children have returned excited and enthusiastic to continue with their learning and an eagerness to be back in school. This week classes will be looking at New Year’s resolutions and how we can make a ‘fresh start’ – the older children are focussing on how they can challenge themselves and develop new skills.
