Happy Easter from Lisburne School

Parents and carers were invited to school this week to join in with our Easter Celebrations. We hunted down Easter eggs, sang songs together, made cards for our friends and family and ate Easter inspired cakes.  We even had a visit from the Easter Bunny! It was excellent to see so many people involved in the celebrations. Please see our short slideshow of some of the activities below.

This Friday Spring term finishes and we will return to school on Tuesday 23rd April.

From everyone at Lisburne have a happy and safe holiday.

Non-Fiction Creative Week March 2019

This half-term we have enjoyed a great creative week following the theme of

‘What a Wonderful World!’

Each class addressed the theme in their own way; some classes looked at protecting our world through reducing waste on land and sea or recycling, others explored the wonders of the world from the deepest, darkest jungles to the freezing arctic landscape.

We used a range of Drama strategies to immerse the children in their learning as well as computing aids and sensory strategies to created a range of creative writing and mark-making pieces linked to our theme.

Music and Movement Morning Wednesday 27th February

KS1 Parents were invited into school for a ‘music and movement’ morning on Wednesday 27th February.

This was an opportunity to work with our specialist dance teacher, Sadie, to experience dance at Lisburne School.

Music and movement can lead to sensory experiences for our children which can gradually help their development both emotionally and physically. Dance and movement is also a communication tool – by means of the way a pupil may respond to the music, as well as promoting healthy living and exercise.

Parents and carers enjoyed the morning stating that:

“It was nice to see different techniques to use at home “

“It was good to use music with Oliver, he usually turns music off at home, so we don’t bother, but shall now persevere”

“We will  be trying some of the dance/relaxation at home”

“My son was super happy doing the dancing and loved the parachute”

Expect to see more activity invites organised by our Family Liaison Department in the future.

Welcome to Spring Term 2 & Diary Dates

We are pleased to see everyone return back safely to school after our February half term break. It can still be a little cold so could we please remind everyone to make sure the children come into school with clearly named / labelled coats, hats, gloves that are suitable for the changing weather. All the children continue to be enthusiastic and engaged with their learning so we have already started the week with a real eagerness to be back in school.

We would like to remind you that our Non-Fiction Week will be starting on Monday 4th March; information about what each class will be doing will be sent out via Class Dojo or Tapestry…..
